Sanjeev Venkataraman, MD

Sanjeev Venkataraman, MD, is one of the founders and owners of NeuroBehavioral Medicine Group, an outpatient psychiatric treatment center in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Dr. Venkataraman has dedicated his medical career to caring for children, adults and families.  He has an active interest in both in-patient and out-patient treatment.  He is a humanistic child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who evaluates and treats multiple psychiatric disorders, with particular attention to managing the psychopharmacological aspect of treatment.

Dr. Venkataraman has an active interest in both in-patient and out-patient treatment.  He is a humanistic child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who evaluates and treats multiple psychiatric disorders, with particular attention to managing the psychopharmacological aspect of treatment. He is Medical Director of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Harbor Oaks Hospital, New Baltimore MI.  He is also Medical Director of Detroit Behavioral Institute, a 98 bed residential facility located in Midtown Detroit that treats adjudicated and non-adjudicated youth.

Dr. Venkataraman works collaboratively with patients, parents, therapists, primary care doctors and teachers in order to affect an optimal treatment outcome.  In addition to his expertise in psychopharmacology, Dr. Venkataraman also has an interest in Addiction Psychiatry and is a physician Certified for Buprenorphine Treatment. Dr. Venkataraman participates in various research projects focused on the latest research and potential treatment options for a variety of disease states, including Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Major Depressive Disorders, Tourette Syndrome and Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

Dr. Venkataraman earned his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India.  He did a year of research at Duke University Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry prior to completing his general Adult Psychiatry residency at the University of Missouri- Kansas City School of Medicine.  He went on to complete his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Michigan School of Medicine.  He is board certified by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult, Adolescent and Child Psychiatry, with added qualifications in Forensic Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry.
